So I ended up with nearly two pages of signatures on that letter, with more still trickling in. I sent it to the principals, the administrators, and the school committee. The response has been tremendous.

The superintendent said that he had sent the letter on to the entire faculty and staff of the school system. The principals wrote me letters of thanks, as did many teachers and others.

Many of the people who signed the letters have been hearing from teachers they know personally as well. The response has been overwhelmingly positive and it seems like it has come at an important time.

It feels so good to be able to make a difference for people who make so much of a difference in our lives. I have felt so powerless during this whole remote/hybrid schooling episode, it gives me some hope to know that simple acts of kindness still matter.
